My career in the healing arts began with a passion to heal myself and evolved into a multi-dimensional journey including massage, structural integration, nutritional therapies, colon hydrotherapy and health enhancement education. As a massage and bodywork therapist, my areas of specialization include relief of chronic and acute pain and structural analysis and integration.
The following passage by Mark Nepo is a favorite of mine, describing the compassionate shaman that lives in each of us: “If you take the medicine of what you know and marry it to the medicine of who you are, you have the chance to become a clear vessel. A vessel for healing, for drawing the toxins out of others and discharging them where they can do no further harm. Feeling the light of the planet through a single tear makes me aspire to be a spiritual citizen. It makes me stop on the wet city street near the bus station till I sense the wind about to curl around the corner… I slow to inhale the breeze, accepting the pains of those I’ll never meet. And like the shamans who sing in the dark, I believe that somewhere beneath my personality, beneath my goodwill, somewhere in the chemistry of spirit that enables flesh to heal, I can close my eyes and exhale the world, doing my small part to blunt the edges.” |
