Massage therapy is something that I kind of fell into. Growing up I had always given people massages and enjoyed doing it. After I spent a year at a university I decided that I needed to do something different with my life. I knew that I wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives. After remembering how much I enjoyed giving people massages I decided to look into it as a career. I am originally from Canton, IL and so I decided to move to Colorado to attend the Denver School of Massage Therapy.
I started attending the Denver School of Massage Therapy in October 2004. Meanwhile, my Aunt was suffering from a debilitating illness. This made me want to become a massage therapist even more. I wanted to help take her pain away. I wanted to make her feel better and improve her quality of life. My Aunt eventually lost her battle to her illness, but she inspires me everyday to be a better therapist.
I believe that massage therapy has helped shape me into the person I am today. It is a huge part of my life and a huge part of who I am as a person. Since finishing massage therapy school I became Nationally Certified in 2006 and attend continuing education workshops yearly. I love what I do and always enjoy learning more about my career.
Massage therapy also helped me decide to go back to college. There is nothing that could take me away from massage, but I decided I wanted to take my career to the next level. I am currently attending Colorado State University. Here I intend to get my B.S. in Health Promotion and a M.S. in Occupational Therapy. I am very excited to learn new and different ways to benefit people’s lives.
When I have free time I love to be outside! Hiking, camping, biking, skiing, and backpacking are just a few things I enjoy doing with my dog and my boyfriend. I also love to read and take pictures. |
